There are 5 Steps to Earning a Be Wise School Accreditation

Book a Be Wise Presentation

We use Pat’s story to illustrate what can happen when faced with violence, and we discuss consequences for both victims and offenders.

  • A unique opportunity to start tough conversations
  • Suits all secondary school students

Get your students to participate in our surveys before and after the presentation.

Self-evaluation is a valuable part of the process of empowering students to recognise and assess their own attitudes and actions.

  • No identifiable information is recorded or used
  • Surveys are online and take less than 5 minutes
  • Results contribute to our ongoing research into violence prevention and attitudes towards violence

Give us Feedback

Tell us how we went

Your feedback allows us to continually improve our message and reach more people, by sharing the experiences of others.

Some of our schools have provided testimonials from students, which are incredibly powerful.

Give feedback via either:

  • Student and staff testimonials
  • Completing the feedback form
  • Submitting an online review

Spread the Word

Help us reach more kids

Complete your accreditation by giving other schools the opportunity to also contribute to change.

Tell your colleagues and network so we can share this important message with more students or community groups.

Spread the word by either:

  • Introducing us to your sister schools, local school networks, other campuses, and teaching colleagues
  • Inviting your associated community groups and sporting clubs to connect with us

When you’ve passed on a message like this, you might have just saved a young life.

Your questions answered

When your school completes all five accreditation requirements, we date your accreditation from the purchase date of the Be Wise Violence Prevention eLearning course.

Your Be Wise School Accreditation is annually renewed when the Violence Prevention eLearning purchase is renewed for the subsequent year. Schools will also book an annual Be Wise Presentation, have students re-evaluate via our surveys, offer us feedback, and spread the word.

Violence prevention education can’t be a ‘once-off’. To embed a culture of safety and care, the messages and lessons need to be re-visited while young people grow through developmental stages. Younger students entering their senior years will hear Pat’s story for the first time, while older students approaching adulthood may hear the right piece of information at the right time - it just may save their life, or the life of a mate. That’s why re-accreditation is not a repeat of last year’s activities - it’s a journey for a school, for the next student cohort, and for the community.

Accreditation is for a 12 month period. We’ll remind schools when the re-accreditation is due. If a school chooses not to renew their eLearning purchase to use for its next cohort, the school’s accreditation will cease.

Schools may approach the steps in the best way for the school and students. If that means buying the Violence Prevention eLearning early in the year to incorporate into Term 1 curriculum, but booking a Be Wise Presentation later in the year for the greater community, this still fulfills accreditation criteria.

The accreditation is a journey through the steps, so it will vary for each school:

  • A presentation takes approximately an hour with one of our presenters.
  • The five eLearning lessons each take approximately 20 - 30 minutes, and we suggest a further 15 minutes for discussion time. eLearning is flexible: use one lesson or use them all. Schools may structure the lesson usage depending on the personal development needs of each year level.
  • Surveys take students less than 5 minutes to complete.
  • Providing your feedback and spreading the word is in your hands! We appreciate the time you spend on these steps, as they help us improve our services and reach more young people.
