Practical Teacher Resource Before You Head Out

By Nadine Foster

September 15, 2026

Schoolies, end of year celebrations and school holidays can place young people in situations where peer pressure, rising tension or concern for a friend can make decisions difficult.

Before You Head Out provides six ready to use, 10-minute conversations to help students think ahead and consider practical ways to stay safe, look out for one another and choose a safer next step.

The conversations explore:

  • recognising when the mood is changing
  • looking after a mate without joining a conflict
  • responding to embarrassment and pressure
  • supporting someone who wants to leave
  • managing when plans fall through
  • avoiding online conflict the morning after

Designed for Years 10 to 12, the resource can be used in Health, Homeroom, Pastoral Care or Wellbeing.
