The Pat Cronin Foundation has teamed up with the Apprenticeship Employment Network to equip young people with life skills needed to build safer, more respectful workplaces.

Under the new partnership, apprentices across Victoria will have access to powerful education sessions focussed on managing emotions including anger, handling confrontation and defusing aggression.

Foundation director Matt Cronin said the partnership would expand the charity’s reach.

“While we work with around 80,000 young people a year, this is a tremendous opportunity to engage others as they enter the workforce and help them develop the confidence to recognise warning signs and respond safely when situations escalate.

“This is exactly the age group we’re aiming to reach as we challenge mindsets and encourage positive behaviours.”

AEN executive director Gary Workman said the initiative was a valuable addition to the wellbeing support already embedded in the network’s vocational training.

“The Pat Cronin Foundation is doing an outstanding job teaching skills that are incredibly relevant both in the workplace and in everyday life,” he said.

“I encourage all of our 25 member organisations to get involved and book a presentation for the 6000 apprentices in their programs.”
