It’s back in a big way – and with just one week to go, the countdown is well and truly on to the 2022 Be Wise Walk this Sunday, November 20.

Our first full-sized walk in three years, we’re delighted to report that entries are currently flooding in, with more than 1,000 participants expected to come together and help us raise around $150,000.

And while most of us are still getting in some sneaky training for the big day, one of our most enthusiastic supporters – well-known Eltham local Brad Peatling (pictured above right) – is putting the finishing touches to his preparation for not one, but two events.

He’ll be joining more than 50 of his work colleagues in a 10 kilometre Bakers Delight corporate team Be Wise Walk to Anywhere event from Camberwell to Kew and back this Friday – as well as the Foundation’s official 8.4 kilometre trek from Heidelberg Cricket Club to Lower Plenty Football Ground.

To top it off, he’ll be working the barbie on the day at Lower Plenty – and in his typical, affable fashion – talking the socks off most everyone who comes across his path.

Bakers Delight, along with Barry Plant Real Estate Group, Le Pine Funerals

and YVE Group is a much-valued gold sponsor of the day, all of whom have been instrumental in helping us bring the event together.

A former long-time franchisee of the Bakers Delight store at Eltham, Brad’s been a big supporter of the Foundation since its earliest days – always involved in the walk as well as helping out in other fundraising events.

“I got to know the Cronins because they were customers,” says Brad. “Since then we’ve formed a great friendship.

“I urge anyone who can find a few hours this weekend to get along to the walk on Sunday and support a great cause. “It’s one of the events I personally support every year, and naturally I’m really looking forward to taking part again.”

Why Bakers Delight is getting behind the Be Wise Walk

“Supporting local communities has been part of our DNA for over 40 years, so we are delighted to be sponsoring the Be Wise Walk once again,” says Bakers Delight Joint CEO Elise Gillespie.

“The Pat Cronin Foundation’s vision of creating a world free from the Coward Punch is something every community would benefit from, which is why we and particularly our bakery teams in Rosanna, Eltham, Warringal and Greensborough, are so passionate about getting involved in this very important event.”
